From crawdads to city hall September 3, 2014 | 01:27 am

Isleton, Ca. has been on a kind of roll, just like NCR books. The Isleton Crawdad Festival was a rousing success. Artists and boaters are cruising through town. The Delta breeze is cool and sweet.

Then, there is the matter of the Sacramento County Grand Jury special report verbally indicting the city for lack of supervision of Police Department operations, missing police badges and inconsistent financial policies. Not to mention that small matter of a nine-year dispute with Federal Emergency Management Agency officials over funding a new city hall after the old one crumbled during the Loma Prieta Earthquake.

The FEMA-Isleton War finally ended last week when the old City Hall came tumbling down. Typically, the people of Isleton celebrated with a giant catered buffet, mimosas and champagne, all at 10 a.m. A new City Hall goes up at the same spot next year, so come back and see it.

It Is Done July 20, 2014 | 08:26 am

It was a Friday in November. I’d eaten much the day before, and I’d felt nature calling me towards the bathroom. Its siren song lured me onto the porcelain thrown where I did my business. It didn’t last long, but when I pushed the chrome lever to dispose of the atrocity I’d committed nothing happened. The beast would not flush down and I was terrified that it might at any moment spring up and seize me with odor. It did, and the fact that I could not flush it away caused me to call an emergency plumber Manchester.

The man came and asked, “Where is it?” I could not respond and just pointed, my head down in shame, at the door to the restroom. The man opened the door, winced, and said, “I’ll try my best.” After hours wrestling with the beast he returned. “It is done,” he said.

Hearing Loss Isn’t Contagious May 23, 2014 | 09:59 am

I have watched my grandfather for years struggle to hear what it is a person is saying. I have seen all too often that people scream at him. I do understand that you have to talk a bit louder, but you don’t have to scream at the poor man.

Others just don’t talk to him. What, do they think that they are going to catch it? It’s not contagious. Sure, you have to put in some effort when talking to the man, but that shouldn’t be too hard. He likes talking and if he ever got hearing aids Nantwich, maybe it would be a bit better. For now, this is just how it works.

Others tend to treat him like a poor old man. What would they do if they knew that you don’t have to be old to lose your hearing? How would they interact then? People, they are hard of hearing; not stupid.

Projects To Update Your House April 26, 2014 | 02:46 am

My husband and I had some extra spending money and decided that we were going to renovate our old bathroom. We called around and found an affordable and knowledgeable bathroom installers Bolton company. We payed upfront for our purchase and scheduled an installation date two weeks away.

Then we went to our local store and purchased paint, tiles, new fixtures and cabinets. We tore everything out and did all the painting first. After that we installed our tiles and bathroom fixtures. I never thought that we would be done in time for when the fitter was scheduled, but we were.

Once the fitter was done with his job, we were extremely satisfied with the quality workmanship and the professionalism that was provided to us. The work was done on time and just as we had scheduled. I since then have referred many friends and family to the company and will continue to do so.

Keep At It with Exercise and Motivation February 1, 2014 | 04:28 am

Losing weight has always been a struggle for me. I’ve tried so many diets and exercise programs that just didn’t keep me motivated in interested very long. My friend told me that I should start working with a personal trainer Bristol to receive motivation when exercising and I didn’t really know what to think of having such a person in my life. I tried a trainer out and noticed that my workouts were a lot more intense and I had someone there who was motivating me to keep going.

I’ve been working with my trainer for a few months now and it’s been a dream come true. I’m almost down to my goal weight and I have never looked better. I just cannot believe what having some motivation can do for you in terms of feeling better about yourself when working out and having the drive to just keep going when you’re very tired.

So, our wedding was a bit low-budget, but if I had to do it all again, I wouldn’t have changed a single thing! It was a perfect autumn evening in early October down in Georgia on an old converted southern plantation. The flowers, the decorations, and the ceremony and reception sites were all gorgeous. I could not have asked for a better venue. We all had a great time, even during the hours preceding the ceremony! Everything seemed to have gone off without a hitch, all night long, and we truly did have the night of our lives. To top it all off, as we were leaving for our car, someone nearby was celebrating that night. Now, I don’t know what they were celebrating, but they set off the most spectacular wedding fireworks I have ever seen… and they weren’t even intentional! We took it as a good sign.
